The steps, in the right order
- Survey, measurements and choice of layout, tiles and fittings
- Strip-out of old tiles, sanitaryware and screed
- New water pipes, drains, electrical points and extractor fan
- Levelling walls and floor
- Waterproofing of the shower area and floor, with a leak test
- Tiling, then sanitaryware, glass and lighting
- Silicone, cleaning and handover
How long it takes
A typical full bathroom takes about two to three weeks, depending on size, finishes and delivery times. A refresh without moving plumbing can be much quicker. We give you a day-by-day schedule in the quote.
What affects the cost
Every bathroom is different, so we quote after a visit. The main factors are:
- Size of the room and amount of tiling
- Moving the WC, shower or drains to new positions
- Choice of tiles, sanitaryware and glass
- Walk-in shower with linear drain versus a shower tray
- Condition of existing pipes and walls
Mistakes that cause problems later
- Skipping waterproofing under the tiles
- Keeping old, corroded pipes behind new tiles
- Too little slope towards the drain
- No ventilation, which brings mould back
- Cheap silicone and grout in wet areas
